Apple has updated some of its most well-known productivity and “essential” apps and is now giving them away on Mac and iOS App Stores for free.
Previously, people could either buy Numbers, Keynote and Pages individually or together in Apple’s iWork suite. iMovie and GarageBand, which will also be free to download, used to be part of Apple’s iLife suite. Another member of that suite, iPhoto, met its demise in 2015 and was replaced with the Photos app.
All of the apps now listed as free used to be included with new Mac and iOS device purchases, dating back to 2013. So, really, it was only a matter of time before Apple made this free for all official.
MacRumors first spotted the change in cost Tuesday morning.
For the time being, the “Bundle for iWork” is still being listed as $39.99 in the Mac App Store and $9.99 in the iOS App Store. But if you search each app individually, you can hit the “Get” button to download the apps at no cost.
