GasBuddy app

TechnoLeah’s apps of the week

After a week of “vacation,” I’ve decided to recommend two apps that would be helpful for people on vacation.

GasBuddy

Gas isn’t nearly as expensive as it once was, but it’s still nice to know that you’re saving money while filling up your car’s tank. GasBuddy helps with the money saving effort.

The app crowdsources data to keep its users in the know about where the least expensive gas is in town at any given moment. If you use the app, there are incentives to report prices at gas stations which helps keep the app’s listed prices accurate.

GasBuddy is available on iOS and Android for free.

Airbnb

Last summer I tried out the Airbnb for the first, second and third time all over the course of about two months. Each trip went perfectly and I saved a lot of money thanks to the hospitality service app. If you’re going to give it a go, this is a pro tip, make sure you have a strong social media presence (Facebook seems to hold the most weight).

After connecting social profiles and giving Airbnb some personal information, you can request to stay at all types of residences in more than 65,000 cities all over the world. You can also use the app to make some extra money by renting space in your own home.

Airbnb is available on iOS and Android for free.
